Easy Homemade Strawberry Jam (No Pectin)

Yields: About 2 small jars (1 ½ cups total)
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20–25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (fresh is best!)

Instructions:

  1. Mash the Strawberries:
Place the chopped strawberries in a medium saucepan. Use a potato masher or fork to mash them to your desired consistency (chunky or smooth — your choice!).

  2. Add Sugar + Lemon Juice:
Stir in the sugar and lemon juice until well combined.

  3. Cook the Jam:
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer. Stir frequently and let it cook for about 20–25 minutes, or until it thickens.
👉 Test doneness: Drag a spoon across the bottom — if it parts like the Red Sea and doesn’t immediately flood back, it’s done!

  4. Cool & Store:
Let cool slightly, then transfer to clean jars. Once fully cooled, store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

Tips:

  • Want a thicker jam? Simmer a bit longer.

  • Want to skip refined sugar? Sub in honey or maple syrup to taste.

  • Great on toast, pancakes, yogurt, or over ice cream!

Enjoy your strawberry picking adventure in West Michigan!
